Prior to gluing, the second sheer clamp lamination was aligned with the first lamination and clamped. Finishing nails were used to hold the pieces in alignment. When the laminations are glued, the nails register both pieces to their dry-fit position and prevent the stock from sliding around when clamping pressure is applied.
